FLOCKED

My mother was flocked today by her friends for their donation to the Family Support Center in Cedar City. She is then offered to make a donation to the FSC and move the flamingos elsewhere. Fun idea!

Random picture at Olive Garden. Mak was totally embarrassed to have her mother snapping photos in a restaurant so you won't find her in this picture.

CALIFORNIA FUN & DINE

I've tried to update my blog several times, but it won't allow pictures. What is a blog without pictures? Anyway, let's try this again.... okay...WAIT A MINUTE! Now I try it again, and it posts a picture. This blog is possessed. Oh, sure... the 8x10 glossies of me in my string bikini somehow just don't make the cut (just kidding), but a picture of Mad makes it. This computer really has a mind of its own. Okay....let's try this again.

We enjoyed a weekend of meeting the our favorite tax man and preparing our taxes for 2008 and then headed off to Anaheim. The boys were playing in the high school band at a competition at Fullerton College. Two days at Disneyland was wonderful. The weather was perfect. We even got a little color. The best part for me, however, was eating at a few favorite spots....Who doesn't love a deep fried burrito from Taco Treat.
The Hat was another great stop. The pastrami dips are to die for. A side of onion rings (a giant bag) was enough for all of us.
That wasn't the only places we hit. Of course, a true California girl must have her vietnamese-made donuts, and a good mexican restaurant.

Okay, I'd like to add more, but I can tell the "add image" button has had enough of me. I better get this posted before it deletes anything.

BIRTHDAYS ARE FUN!

We celebrated the 50th birthday of an OLD friend, Colette, this past week. We decorated her yard with cows, played trumpets and cymbals at 7:00a.m. and posted a few signs around the neighborhood. We also made up a poster of the 10 top games played by people over 50. (For example: Hide & Go Pee -- Sag! You're It! -- Spin the Bottle of Mylanta -- Red Rover, Red Rover, the Nurse Says Bend Over, etc.) What fun we had. She claims I have too much time on my hands. In my defense, I just know where to put my priorities....embarrassing a friend takes priority over all.

ICE FISHING - FISH LAKE

Okay, so many of you know I have fears. One of the many, is ice fishing. It's not the fishing that freaks me, it's the standing on top of a frozen lake, hearing cracking ice....YIKES! In years past, G would take the kids ice fishing. I would stay home and busy myself so I wouldn't think about what was happening at the lake, i.e., kid's falling through the ice, etc. I guess many people get pleasure from this "sport", but it's beyond my imagination.

This weekend, G, H and A went with friends to Fish Lake. They had a great time and caught lots of fish.
This is H. He claims to have caught the most fish on the trip.

Cody B taking it easy snacking while fishing.
Nick S also chill-laxing. (Do they not get the potential danger involved here?)
G and H
H with a small perch. Pretty fish but it has sharp spines. A took the pictures so he is not posted here. He claims to have caught the largest fish.
This is Nick S. on 1/2 inch thick ice. They assure me he is near shore, but somehow that doesn't make me feel any better. Nick....tsk, tsk, tsk. Great form, however.
Not all the fun was on the ice. I suppose it is safe to say, "what happens at Fish Lake, stays at Fish Lake". They stayed in one of Nick's ancestor's home which hasn't really been lived in since the 30's, yet the family keeps it as it was then. A took lots of pictures of the old house. He loved that they had dynamite in the basement, old canned peaches, and furniture from the 30's.

I guess it is these kind of trips that make men out of boys. I was glad they made it home in one piece. My friend Colette told me of a kid in Monroe who fell through the ice on Saturday....it was at Fish Lake. Okay, my fears are confirmed!!!

CEDAR ROCKS CANYON VIEW!

Once again, Cedar High spanked the Canyon View Falcons in basketball. It was cross-town rivalry at its best! A and H play trumpet in the pep band. The gym was really rockin'! A is first trumpet on right (just below drummer with headband) and H is seven to his left. Cross-town rivalry is best when you win! Condolences to Courtney and her friends!

SKI & SNOWBOARDING

The family made a trip to Brian Head today. It was perfect weather, perfect crowds, etc. The above picture is Mad's second day of skiing. By the end of the day, she was a pro. When I've skied, I always used poles. G taught Mad without using poles. I guess it worked because she is a very confident skier this evening.

H is a snowboarder. He knows how to handle the board. As a boarder, H hates the flat spots on some of the bunny hills at Navajo, and was glad to move over to Giant Steps later in the day to show off his game.
A likes the ski. He does very well. This is the third time this week the boys have been skiing. Poor kids....more like spoiled rotten.
I was glad G had a day off and wanted to spend it with his family. Mad thinks that Dad is the only one that can teach her how to ski, so she really enjoyed this time with him.
The gang all had a good time. Mak and I were lounge lizards for most of the morning, and then ventured out to a few cabin open houses. If anyone is interested in sharing the expense of a cabin/townhome, let me know.

SNOW FOR CHRISTMAS.....

We've got lots of snow. It just keeps coming. I think just this morning there was 10 inches in some spots. Other places only 5 inches. I worked on 10 houses in 3 hours. I love to shovel the snow, blow the snow, but what I'd really like to do is buy a 4-wheeler with a blade so that I could push the snow. This body isn't as young as it use to be and I feel wiped out when I'm done.
Mad and the puppies enjoyed playing in it

Mak would like to be out in the snow, but she must sit by the fire and drink her hot cocoa. She still thinks she'll be able to snowboard again before the season ends. I'm more pessimistic. (See previous post regarding breaking her ankle.) She will be on crutches for another few weeks and then in a walking boot.
